The next round of workforce development grant applications in North Dakota will open Sept. 3 with a deadline of Oct. 29.

Most of the money available from the Regional Workforce Impact Program will be in a six-county region of Benson, Cavalier, Eddy, Ramsey, Rolette and Towner counties – $715,000. In southwest North Dakota, there is $504,401 available.

There also is $73,047 available in Region 2, which stretches from Burke to Pierce counties.

The rest of the state has no money available for this round.

The Department of Commerce adjusts the money available in the eight regions based on awards in previous rounds.

Eligible organizations for grants include economic development groups, incorporated cities, chambers of commerce, job development authorities, tribal entities, regional councils, and child care centers.

Child care centers have been big winners in the first two grant rounds. A third round of awards will be announced soon.

Details about the grant program can be found on the Commerce Department’s website.
