JUST IN: Trump Reaches VP Decision, Rubio and Burgum Told They’ve Been Ruled Out

Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)  and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum have reportedly been ruled out of former President Donald Trump’s veepstakes.

Reporting from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, CNN’s Kristen Holmes first told Jake Tapper that Trump had made his decision and that it was not Rubio.

“So we have Mark Preston has heard from a single source that that Donald Trump has made his his decision. And that seems to be clear because we are also told by two sources familiar that Marco Rubio , the senator from Florida, has been informed that he is not the choice for vice president,” said Holmes.

She continued:

Now just to go over what Kaitlan [Collins] had said just moments ago, there are three people that we know have been at the top of the list for consideration. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, who has now been told he is not the choice, Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota and [Senator] J.D. Vance of Ohio.

We did see Vance leaving his home earlier today, he was in what looked to be a motorcade. We have obviously been reading all of the tea leaves around that, but we were told that we shouldn’t speculate, that all of these three top contenders have been given extra security after the shooting on Saturday.

But of course, we are still now looking at a list of three that has been narrowed down to likely two people.

Moments later, it was reported that Burgum had also been told that he would not be Trump’s running mate.
