UW program administrators unenroll disabled student from study program, spark calls for accommodations reform
When Nikhita Steward-Trivedi searched for academic programs this summer, the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) caught their eye. Steward-Trivedi —who has Goltz syndrome, causing vision and mobility impairments — saw the three-week summer intensive as an opportunity to pursue their career goals and a place where it would be easier to receive accommodations for their disability, in their mother Lina Steward-Trivedi’s view.
New Details Emerge on Future Ho-Chunk Casino in Beloit
The Ho-Chunk Nation, one of the largest federally recognized tribes of Wisconsin, has released new details about their upcoming Ho-Chunk Gaming Casino in Beloit. This ambitious project will significantly expand the tribe’s gaming businesses from its six current locations. Drawing from its substantial experience, the tribe hopes to attract guests with a world-class casino and leisure experience.
Alternative Education Program at Richland Center Schools
Richland School District Administrator, Steve Board, presented an alternative education program to the Board of Education at Monday night’s board meeting. He said that alternative education has proven to be successful in the PARTNER School. After thoroughly examining the data and brainstorming solutions over the past several weeks, the Administration has proposed this new alternative education program, which includes all three buildings for this coming school year. This programming would support students who are on the fringe of needing other supports. The proposal would require the addition of one full-time teacher at each of the three buildings and alternative education licensure within the next year. The tentative name being used is the R-SSEE School, pronounced R-C, which stands for Richland Small School Educational Environment, focusing on the smaller class size opportunities for students.

Celebrating 95 years of the Rock County 4-H Fair
ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) - Janesville welcomes back the Rock County 4-H Fair for year 95! This summer the fair begins on Tuesday, July 23rd and runs through Sunday, July 28th. A county fair filled with rich traditions and fun for all. This fair is an annual family-friendly event held every July in Southern Wisconsin. Tenant Resource Center creates ‘one-stop shop’ for local families
