JACKSON TWP. – Cool Cat’s Counter , at 4404 Belden Village St. NW, has closed.

Opened in early March, the fast casual restaurant with a 1950s diner vibe occupied a space that has been riddled with quick openings and closings, including Shirley’s Diner and CiCi's Pizza.

The restaurant's Facebook posts originally stated Cool Cat’s was closed temporarily for vacation and was awaiting a permit.

The owners had built up the restaurant, investing in a back section for customers to enjoy classic video games and a jukebox.

Co-owner Callie Tootle-Cramer, who also owns Sunrise Café in Plain Township with her partner, Rae Tottle-Cramer, said a lack of business was to blame for the closure .

“We unfortunately did not have enough business to sustain our original Cool Cat’s Counter concept, so my partner, Rae, and I decided to reopen as a sports bar,” Callie said. “When the liquor permit fell through, we knew it was time to close and focus on Sunrise Café.”
