New Buffalo water system wins national award for 50 years of fluoridation
NEW BUFFALO, Mich. -- The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced on Monday that seven Michigan communities, including New Buffalo, were awarded the 2023 Community Water Fluoridation 50 Year Award from the American Dental Association, Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Family ages out of its children’s paradise house in Southwest Michigan
Over about a dozen years, a Chicago family of five spent all the time they could at their home in Union Pier that the father says was “really a kid’s paradise.”. An hour and 15 minutes’ drive from their weekday home, the Southwest Michigan house north of New Buffalo offered the three kids a pool for swimming and playing volleyball, a pond for looking at frogs and turtles, a treehouse for adventuresome sleepovers and a five-minute bike ride to the beach.

Notre Dame football misses out on elite 2026 offensive tackle Kevin Brown
One of the top 2026 offensive tackles, Pennsylvania’s Kevin Brown, was offered a scholarship by Notre Dame football at the middle of March during “Pot of Gold Day.” The 6-foot, 5-inch and 270-pound star held offers from the major of powerhouse programs across the country, but this weekend made the short tip to State College and visited Penn State. The nation’s No. 36 overall prospect and 5th ranked tackle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings saw all he needed to see, and committed to the Nittany Lions shortly after his trip. Day two of Hometown Days festival takes place in New Carlisle
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- In New Carlisle, an annual summertime festival is bringing out hundreds for family fun in the heart of the small town. This year is the 19th year of Hometown Days. The main attraction to the weekend-long festival is the wiffleball tournament bringing in ninety teams from across the county to play.

The humidity is on the rise. Tonight will feature high humidity, mostly cloudy skies, and a 40% chance of scattered showers. Brief, heavy downpours are possible as well but much of the area will stay dry tonight with lows falling into the upper 60s. Scattered showers and storms are possible every single day this week besides Wednesday. It will stay muggy which will push heat indices into the 90s most of the coming week. Highs may hit 90 on Wednesday with partly cloudy skies and dry weather. The severe weather risk remains low this week as of now, but any stronger storm could have heavy rain and gusty winds up to 40-50 mph. Highs in the 80s and the oppressive humidity likely last into the coming weekend.
