Cleveland Clinic doctor saves life of choking co-worker
STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland Clinic doctor used his life-saving skills to save a co-worker choking in the hospital cafeteria. Dr. Harry Kourlis, Director of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, was eating lunch when Jaida Evans ran up to their table and was “clearly in distress” and clutching her throat.

Large portions of former Avon Lake power plant to be demolished in controlled explosions
AVON LAKE, Ohio -- Avon Lake’s nearly century-old power plant, closed since 2022, will soon look very different as officials prepare to implode two boilers. The Avon Lake Environmental Redevelopment Group, or ALERG, a subsidiary of Charah Solutions, within the next few weeks will implode large sections of the former power plant, including two boilers and precipitator buildings, the city announced Tuesday.
Strongsville and Cleveland Water to Investigate Cause of 11 Water Main Breaks and Gas Line Damage in City’s Northwest Corner
The city and the Cleveland Division of Water will look into why 11 water mains broke last week on Jonathan and Courtland Drives and Montclare Boulevard. That’s what City Service Director Joe Walker told Cleveland.com on Tuesday (July 23). The breaks occurred on July 16 at Strongsville’s northwest corner. “I’ve never seen so many breaks pop at one time like that,” Walker told the crowd.
