NORTH PORT — A recent study revealed that North Port has the seventh-fastest growing property prices in the United States.

Real estate specialists AgentAdvice analyzed data from Zillow between June 2019 and May 2024 to make the assessment. The study was conducted across the 200 most populated metropolitan areas in the country.

Six Florida cities were named in the top-10. Knoxville, Tennessee, topped the chart.

Along with seventh placed North Port was also Naples ranked second; Ocala at fourth; Tampa at fifth; St. Lucie at sixth; and Miami at ninth.

Since 2019, in North Port, the median listing price rose by 68.46% from $270,462 to $455,626, according to the study.

Former North Port resident Alex Wielongowski and his partner want to move back to the city from Charlotte, North Carolina. He loves and misses it.

"I lived in North Port for 15 years, loved the city, and its essence," he said. "It’s a growing city of course, yet it still gives me small-town vibes that fill my heart with happiness."

But moving back is completely unrealistic for them due to lofty prices, he said.

    For now.

"We do plan on coming back, the only way, though, is if this housing market decides to come down. As much as I love the city, I don’t love it enough to break the bank for it," Wielongowski said.

North Port, however, now has a population of over 90,000. And people continue to move to the city.

In March, North Port was also named the fastest-growing small city in the country, in a study by MoneyGeek. They analyzed 211 cities with populations between 63,000 and 100,000.

In spite of the growing property prices, MoneyGeek reported that North Port had a five-year population growth percentage of 28.4%.
