2 men shot after couples get into fight at North Riverside Park Mall

NORTH RIVERSIDE, Ill. — Two men were shot after a pair of couples got into a fight at the North Riverside Park Mall Wednesday evening, according to North Riverside Mayor Joseph Mengoni.

Mengoni said no one died as a result of the incident, and the two men are in stable condition at local hospitals.

According to a statement from village officials, The North Riverside Police and Fire Department arrived at the North Riverside Park Mall on West Cermak Road after an incident that happened a short time before 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

First responders urged patrons to avoid the area while the investigation is underway, but they also said there was no immediate danger to the community after police arrived on scene.

Police have no one in custody.

Village officials said despite the incident, the mall plans to open on the Fourth of July at their normally planned holiday business hours.
