Chicago Administration Faces Criticism for Displacing Homeless and Migrants Ahead of DNC
Amid preparations for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, Mayor Brandon Johnson's administration has come under scrutiny for its handling of the city's homeless and migrant populations. The city has begun clearing a highly visible tent city adjacent to the Dan Ryan Expressway, relocating its occupants and, in the process, allegedly displacing others who have been staying in a converted hotel shelter. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, more than a dozen individuals have either been evicted or fear imminent ejection from the shelter located just off the Magnificent Mile.

Alpha Phi Alpha, a prominent Black fraternity, moves to bar transgender members
Alpha Phi Alpha, one of the most prominent historically Black fraternities in the country, has taken a first step toward barring transgender members. Delegates to the fraternity’s constitutional convention, held Wednesday through Sunday in Chicago, voted “overwhelmingly” in favor of a bylaw amendment limiting membership to “naturally born” males, sources told GLAAD. NWS Confirms At Least 11 Tornadoes In Northern IL, NW Indiana
The National Weather Service is confirming that nearly a dozen tornadoes hit Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana Monday night. Tornadoes touched down from Yorkville to Naperville, Sugar Grove to North Aurora, near Channahon, in the Bristol and Oswego areas, in Justice and Bridgeview, near Crown Point, Indiana, Crest Hill to Lockport, southern Winnebago County, Byron, Davis Junction and multiple locations in Chicago. The DNR Shooting Range Grant Program is accepting applications for the development of rifle, handgun, shotgun firing, and archery opportunities for public use. While growing up in southern Indiana, I always looked forward to trips to the shooting range. I started out at just seven years old with a simple single shot .22 rifle, before making my way up to a 12-gauge shotgun around the age of 11. Eventually, I was given the opportunity to fire a few different handguns. The hobby has stuck with me through the years, and I've since become fascinated with old military surplus rifles.
