Essex police investigating assault on officer
ESSEX, Vt. (WCAX) - Authorities are looking for two people who they say injured an Essex police officer early Monday morning. Essex police say the officer was investigating possible drug activity in a parking lot at Susan’s Place, a housing complex off Susie Wilson Road. When officers arrived, police say they tried to detain a man and woman, later identified as Mark Edward Sutton Jr., 24, of Williamstown, and Jasmine Brown, 21, of Randolph. Police say both resisted arrest, with Sutton aggressively pulling away and Brown kicking the officer in the groin. Police say Sutton then pinned the officer with his car as he fled the scene. Brown was also able to escape on foot.

Police investigating suspicious death in northern Vermont
Police are investigating a suspicious death in the town of Morristown in northern Vermont. Around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Morristown police officers conducting a welfare check at a residence on Elmore Street found 76-year-old Richard Cote dead inside his home. An associate of Cote's had called police to say they were concerned about him.
