Fire Departments Respond To Reported Garage Fire In La Salle
A fire broke out Monday afternoon a few blocks northeast of L-P High School. Just past 12:30, La Salle, Peru and Utica firefighters were called about a garage on fire in the 800 block of Lafayette Street. The detached garage was fully engulfed by time crews started arriving. Nobody was hurt in the blaze and it was contained to the garage.

La Salle resident safe after garage fire, but vehicles a total loss
A La Salle homeowner lost a number of valuable items in his garage to a Monday afternoon fire. The homeowner is safe, but items in his garage were a total loss. “My Mustang is gone, my bike is gone, my boat is gone, my antique tools are gone,” Randy Moreno said holding his dog and shaking his head.

Work starts on Ottawa water main
Work started Monday in the 100 and 200 blocks of Anita Drive in Ottawa from La Salle Street to the end of Anita Drive. Watermain work is expected to be completed in a few weeks. Additional updates will be provided as the construction project progresses, the city of Ottawa said in a news release.

The Peru Minor League softball team went 3-0 in pool play at the state tournament in Evergreen Park, outscoring its three opponents 50-6, to advance to the semifinals.
