DEPUE - When Rayce Bosnich pulled his boat up to the shores of Lake DePue on Friday, his father, Paul Bosnich III, was waiting for him. Rayce Bosnich, 10, got a big high five and a bear hug from his dad before Bosnich III pulled his son out of the boat and tossed him into the lake.
Streator to host Labor Day parade after years without one
After years without a Labor Day parade, Streator once again will be hosting the event sponsored by the Streator Chamber of Commerce. The parade, which has not been conducted since 2020, is scheduled for noon Sunday, Sept. 1, beginning with a lineup 10:30 a.m. at the Illinois Street train depot. The parade then will move west on Main Street and turn north on Park Street to the City Park for its conclusion.

Trail biker injured in Streator crash, after police say he had been driving recklessly
A 21-year-old man riding a trail bike was injured following a crash Friday on Bloomington Street near Hickory Street in Streator. Streator police said the man had been driving recklessly in the area of the Circle K West gas station on West Main Street, trying to antagonize a police officer into chasing him. Police said the officer did not pursue the trail biker, noting the biker cut through parking lots and dashed up and down sidewalks.
Starved Rock Country Community Foundation to Help Grand Ridge Secure Funds for Park
The Starved Rock Country Community Foundation is partnering with the Village of Grand Ridge to help their big plans for their city park become a reality. The Village has plans to add basketball and pickleball courts along with a splash pad at Grand Ridge Park. Along with that, enhanced lighting, bocce ball court and a horseshoe pit are in the plans for the park.

Ottawa Agrees to Coordinate Grant with NCICG, Approves More Surveillance Cameras
At Thursday's special meeting of the Ottawa City Council, an agreement was approved to partner with North Central Illinois Council of Governments to administer and coordinate services regarding a Community Development Block Grant. The grant will allow for necessary rehab and upgrades to qualifying homes in the downtown and West side areas, from Chestnut to Route 6. Ten or more homes will be chosen from applicants in the designated area. An estimated $650,000 is available to divide up into those properties.
