Addison man arrested on animal cruelty charges at rural Sandwich property following investigation by local, state law enforcement
Following a lengthy investigation by the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) and the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, an Addison man was arrested on animal cruelty charges in rural Sandwich Tuesday morning. 60-year-old Mohammad M. Raza-Ahsan was taken into custody on two counts of cruel treatment of animals and three counts of animal cruelty-owner's duties at the property located in the 17000 block of Wagner Road.

If you're an animal lover, fair warning: This story will be tough to hear. A property owner in Sandwich has been charged with five criminal counts relating to animal cruelty. DeKalb County deputies arrested 60-year-old Mohammad Raza-Ahsan of Addison Tuesday morning. The Illinois Department of Agriculture conducted a months-long investigation into the goings-on at the property on Wagner Road in rural Sandwich, after the sheriff's office had received multiple complaints of foul odors and neglected animals on the property. The investigation led to the discovery of several neglected animals, as well as deceased animals that had not been properly disposed of.

Ottawa to add 13 surveillance cameras to monitor parks
The Ottawa City Council approved the purchase of 13 surveillance cameras Thursday to be used to monitor city parks against vandalism. The council approved the expenditure of $42,250 to Fox Valley Fire and Safety in Elgin. The cost will be split between the Parks and Recreation and the Ottawa Police departments.
