Ottawa Elementary’s summer meal program provides food weekly for children across La Salle County
This summer, Shepherd Middle School in Ottawa is hosting a vital food program aimed at children younger than 18 years old. Organized by Ottawa Elementary School District, the program ensures that any child in need, regardless of their school affiliation, receives nutritious meals. Meals this week included a cheesy pull apart and a hamburger on a bun, breakfast foods, chicken nuggets and breadsticks.
Bureau-Putnam Area Transit seeks survey input
Bureau-Putnam Area Transit is asking for input via a survey to provide the highest quality of transportation services, the agency said. Feedback is appreciated as the program continues to seek ways to enhance the services being offered. The survey period will conclude Aug. 9. The survey consists of multiple-choice questions, and there is space for any comments. The time to complete the survey is estimated to be less than five minutes.
OSF HealthCare expands specialty clinics in Peru
OSF HealthCare announced that the OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute soon will add more specialty clinics for the convenience of residents in the Illinois Valley. Starting Monday, July 22, the OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute-Peru will open a new office at 920 West St., Suite LL1, in medical office building B. This location will provide accessibility and convenience, ensuring residents can reach the services and providers they need, OSF said in a news release.

An Earlville man could face up to 15 years in prison after a Thursday buy-bust operation. Kenneth R. Hacek, 30, was charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine), a Class 1 felony carrying four to 15 years in prison, the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team said in a news release.

A three-time convicted felon has now been indicted on multiple child-pornography charges in Ottawa. Back in April, police in Ottawa received a report of an alleged sex offense involving an adult man and an underage girl. Thirty-eight-year-old Cody Haywood of Ottawa was developed as the suspect.
