CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News Storm Team has issued a Weather Alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms Wednesday late afternoon and early-mid evening.

We expect scattered thunderstorms to develop Wednesday evening, especially south of Northampton.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon. Steady/heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in the evening, especially in Hampden County. Some strong wind and flooding rain are possible Wednesday evening.

Some of these storms will be strong to severe, with downpours (flooding), damaging wind, and lightning. The best chance for these storms is through midnight. Have an indoor alternative to any outdoor plans you have. Some occasional rain is likely overnight. Some of this rain may be briefly heavy.

Thursday’s 7 am temperatures will be in the 60s. Lingering light showers and drizzle are possible as late as 7 am Thursday. Clouds will quickly clear on Thursday morning. It will be a mostly sunny and breezy day. Mild to moderate humidity, dewpoints around 60, will linger through the day. High temperatures will be in the low 80s.
