    New U.S. citizens sworn in at Old Sturbridge Village

    STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WWLP)– A naturalization ceremony was held on the grounds of Old Sturbridge Village as part of the historic landmark’s Independence Day celebrations.

    55 people sworn in as new U.S. citizens in Northampton

    The 154 persons pledged their Oath of Allegiance to the United States and were sworn in as new U.S. citizens. The candidates are from 41 countries including Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Central African Republic, China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, France, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Korea, Syria, The Gambia, Uganda, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Vietnam.

    Other events held at the Village during the day were a concert with patriotic songs from the early days of our nation, the reading of the Declaration of Independence, poetry readings and music performed by a fife and drum band.
