The 22News team gathered with fans to cheer on the Valley Blue Sox earlier on Saturday evening. The weather did not stop the fans from coming out to support the local team, and it was a very special game for our station.
Annual League of Women Voters Book Sale Begins Friday, July 26
The Annual League of Women Voters Books sale opens on Friday July 26 in the gym at the Fort River Elementary School, 70 Southeast Street. Opening day hours are 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The sale will continue on Saturday July 27 and Sunday July 28 and Saturday August 3 and Sunday August 4 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Finance Director to Serve on Building Committees, 25 Reappointed to Boards, Commissions, and Committees
In memos to the Town Clerk dated July 9, 2024, Town Manager Paul Bockelman nominated Town Finance Director Melissa Zawadski to fill openings on the Jones Library and Elementary School Building Committees, and 25 people as reappointments to town boards, commissions, and committees. The nominations were unanimously approved on the consent agenda of the Town Council at their meeting on July 15.
Valley Blue Sox’s offense scuffles against Danbury Westerners to open weekend
HOLYOKE – After a previous 2-1 loss against Bristol on Thursday night, the Valley Blue Sox looked to get back into the win column against the last-place Danbury Westerners. Valley, however, was dominated by Danbury starter Alex Mach and his eighth-inning shutout. His team ultimately downed Valley 13-1 on Friday night.
3 are injured in head-on crash in Voluntown: State police
VOLUNTOWN, Conn. — A head-on crash occurred Saturday morning in Voluntown, according to a release from Connecticut State Police. A 2013 Nissan Rouge driven by a 45-year-old man from South Hadley, Mass. was traveling east on Route 138 with a 35-year-old female passenger from Chicopee, Mass, according to the crash report.
