In a rare sighting, an albino groundhog has been spotted in East York, as captured on video by Anizzette Fernandez, a viewer of News 8.

The groundhog, also known as a woodchuck, is a common game animal in Pennsylvania, typically found in various habitats such as fields, meadows, woodlands, and pastures.

Groundhogs are solo creatures, as they spend their summers and falls stuffing themselves and taking naps in the sun, according to Live Science.

They weigh around 13 pounds, which is around twice the average weight of a newborn human baby.

When alarmed, it emits a high-pitched whistle, earning it the nickname "whistlepig," according to WGAL.

Groundhogs also have sharp claws that they use to dig burrows in the ground. They can pose a threat to livestock and farm equipment, according to WGAL.

The groundhog is most famous for its role as the rodent meteorologist. Each Feb. 2, the nation eagerly awaits its prediction from Punxsutawney Phil, who determines whether we should brace for six more weeks of winter or anticipate an early spring.
