Dalmatia, Pa. — A Northumberland County man was arrested after he allegedly threatened a woman and her granddaughter with a handgun.

Trooper Tyler Birdsall of PSP Stonington says he responded to a call for a domestic dispute the evening of Aug. 1 at a home in Lower Mahanoy Township. The female told police she got into an argument with Brian Edward Dyer, 58, earlier that evening, according to the affidavit.

The accuser and her granddaughter left the home to deescalate the situation. When they returned half an hour later, Dyer allegedly yelled, "Who is in my house?" and then entered the woman's bedroom with a gun. Dyer pointed the gun at the accuser and told her she was trespassing, according to the affidavit. When Dyer saw the granddaughter in the room, he exited and went back downstairs.

Police charged Dyer with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor terroristic threats, and simple assault. District Judge Rachel Wiest-Benner set bail at $75,000 at 10%.

Dyer remains in Northumberland County Prison awaiting a preliminary hearing set for Aug. 13.
