York, Pa. — As WellSpan Health beings to oversee Evangelical Community Hospital, the Northumberland Borough will begin transitioning ambulance services.

Evangelical Regional Mobile Medical Services (ERMMS) will be partnering with Northumberland Borough and Point Township on the transition, with new services starting Sept. 1, 2024.

The change follows a recent request for proposal by the borough seeking a change in service provider.

“Emergency ambulance services are essential to providing exceptional emergency care for our patients and community,” said Dr. Michael Seim, senior vice president and chief quality officer, WellSpan Health.

“As ERMMS joined WellSpan Health earlier this year, we unite through a shared vision to provide the highest quality care and this is just another avenue to ensure we continue supporting the communities we serve.”

ERMMS will provide basic and advanced life support services based out of the Northumberland substation in the borough, with services extended to all of Point Township as well. All active ambulance memberships with current providers will be honored as part of the transition.

ERMMS was launched in October 2019 and now has locations in Mifflinburg, Hummels Wharf, Port Trevorton, Milton and at the hospital in Lewisburg. Additional services are provided through staffing agreements in Watsontown and Milton.
