Millville, Pa. — A Millville student was selected for a scholarship to support his education.

Eli Book, was selected through the 2024 Goulds Professional Dealers Association (GPDA) Scholarship. Book will receive $1,500 to fund his educational pursuits at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.

The GPDA scholarship is awarded to 16 students across the United States and Canada. The scholarship is support by Goulds Water Technology (GWT), a Xylem brand.

Book was brought up around his family business, Stackhouse & Son Well Drilling, which has been in operation for over 53 years. Today, Book aims to uphold his family's success and distinction in the water well industry with the same dedication and expertise that has defined the company for decades.

“Working in our family business from a young age has had a profound influence on my life. Growing up, I witnessed the value of hard work and perseverance firsthand through the example set by my grandfather and mother,” said Book. “As I prepare to start college, I hope to deepen my knowledge and skills in my field of study to continue my family’s legacy and eventually manage the business.”

Book, who is beginning his studies in business this summer at Susquehanna University, is a standout student with a record of athletic honors. He played high school football and track and field and was the 2023 Central Columbia Football MVP, a 1st Team Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference (PHAC) Football All-Star and a 2nd Team PHAC Football All-Star in 2023.

Along with his athletic accolades, Book received his Future Farmers of America (FFA) Keystone Degree, an esteemed recognition awarded by the Pennsylvania FFA Association to members who have demonstrated exceptional agricultural skills, leadership, and commitment to their local FFA chapter, further demonstrating his accomplishments and merit of the GPDA scholarship.

The $1,500 GPDA scholarship, granted annually based on academic standing, volunteerism and leadership skills, is part of GWT’s commitment to supporting its GPDA members and their families. Each year, a total of $24,000 in scholarships is awarded to 16 deserving students across the U.S., enabling them to pursue higher education at the college or technical school level. Since its inception, the GPDA scholarship program has awarded $444,000 to 368 students.

“We are delighted to recognize Eli Book with the 2024 GPDA Scholarship. This award celebrates his outstanding achievements and commitment to both academic pursuits and community involvement,” said Susan O’Grady, senior director of marketing, building services and agriculture, Xylem. “At Goulds Water Technology, we are dedicated to supporting the next generation of leaders within our GPDA family and we are proud to contribute to Eli’s journey toward higher education and future success.”
