Walmart recalls apple juice as it exceeds federal standard for inorganic arsenic

    By By The Indiana Gazette,

    2024-08-23

The federal Food and Drug Administration said Walmart’s Great Value private-label brand has recalled 9,535 cases of its apple juice because the product contains “inorganic arsenic above action level set in industry guidance.”

The FDA does not allow inorganic arsenic levels in apple juice to exceed 10 parts per billion. The juice in the recalled cases had 13.2 parts per billion.

Recalled are Great Value apple juice eight-ounce bottles sold in six-packs and marked as 100% Juice, with a UPC code of 0-78742-29655-5 and a best-if-used-by date of DEC2824 CT89-6 (Dec.28, 2024).

The bottles were distributed by Refresco Beverages US Inc. to Walmart retail locations in Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New York, Ohio, West Virginia and more than 20 other states.
