Man stomps on, strangles woman: Police

Sunbury, Pa. — A man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman by hitting her, stomping on her, and strangling her at a Sunbury home.

Police say they were called to a home for a report of a stolen cell phone moments after Edward Brady Dark, 51, of Sunbury, left the scene. The female accuser told police she and Dark got into an argument and he beat her, choked her, and stomped on her leg, according to Officer Tobias Blank of Sunbury Police. A female witness at the scene told police Dark had "stomped all over" the accuser, according to court documents.

The accuser told police that Dark threatened to kill her during the alleged assault. He then took her cell phone and ran out of the house, according to the affidavit.

Dark returned to the home a short time later and threw the phone at the accuser, who was sitting on the porch. Dark went onto the porch and yelled profanities. He allegedly shoved the accuser and another woman who was present. The other woman chased Dark down an alley and lost him. Police found Dark a short time later and held him at taser point as they handcuffed him, according to the affidavit.

Police charged Dark with felony strangulation, misdemeanors of terroristic threats, simple assault, and summary harassment. District William Zalinski set bail at $7,500. Dark's preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 3 at Zalinski's office.
