Pennsdale, Pa. — The developers for the District at Lycoming Valley are continuing talks with potential large retail tenants for the former Lycoming Mall property in Muncy Township.

Megan Dapp, public relations for developers Famvest Partners, said in a statement that site improvement planning is underway. "Famvest continues to have discussions with potential tenants, and attracting the right commercial and large retail tenants for the property remains the primary focus for development," according to the statement. "Redevelopment of this magnitude takes significant thought, planning, and design and will be impacted by the type of tenant that comes to the property."

No word yet on which potential businesses may come to the District. Famvest has said in the past they will not release the names of retailers they are in discussions with until a lease is signed.

In May, Famvest brought in the District Cinema at Lycoming Valley to the former Regal Cinema movie theater. The movie theater, located at 965 Lycoming Mall Circle, had been closed since July 2023. Owned by Dispon Theatres out of western New York, the theater has been showing both current movie releases as well older favorites.

In August, temporary tenant Spirit Halloween moved into the former Best Buy store. The seasonal shop will be open through early November. Best Buy closed their doors in March 2022.

Famvest bought the former 135-acre mall property in June 2023 after receiving funding from both the state and county levels to help with the $15 million purchase. The Lycoming Mall closed in February 2023, leaving only a few stores with external entrances left, including Burlington Coat Factory which is still there. Future plans include bringing in large retailers and hospitality businesses. The developers also have said they will address infrastructure and utilities at the former mall.

Famvest continues focusing on community at the site as well, as they are once again hosting a charity autocross event on Oct. 5 and 6. The event, which will be held in the District parking lot near the former JC Penney and Sears stores, is organized in partnership with the Northeast Pa. Region of the Sports Car Club of America. This year's event will benefit Heroes to Helpers, the Muncy Township Police Department charity that supports families in need across the region.
