63 grams of methamphetamine found inside home with wanted man

Philipsburg, Pa. — Police found a wanted man hiding under a pile of clothes inside a home with 63 grams of methamphetamine scattered around in various smoking devices.

Steven Scott Ranio, 31, of Snow Shoe was taken into custody on Sept. 12 during a raid on a home in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, according to a complaint filed by Pennsylvania state troopers in Hollidaysburg. Ranio was spotted by investigators earlier in the day riding in a vehicle with Tara Davidson, troopers said. Both people are known through various dealings with law enforcement.

According to Trooper Jacob Weibley, Ranio and Davidson were followed back to their home. In November of 2021, Weibley said a large amount of methamphetamine was seized from the residence.

Troopes watched Ranio and Davidson enter the home, according to the affidavit. They maintained surveillance on the home while investigators applied for and received a search warrant. They approached and spoke with Davidson, who claimed Ranio wasn’t inside.

Despite several attempts at getting Ranio to surrender himself, police were forced to search the home. Ranio was found underneath clothes inside a closet. He had a small amount of methamphetamine on him, according to Weibly.

A second search warrant gave investigators the right to search the home for drugs. Various smoking devices and baggies with methamphetamine were found. They also discovered two marijuana plants, THC wax, and scales, according to the complaint. A total of 63 grams of methamphetamine was located by police.

Ranio is being charged with delivery of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, possession, marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was denied bail by Judge Gregory Koehle during a preliminary arraignment last week.

No charges are listed for Davidson.
