Williamsport, Pa. — A man accused of a carjacking in the parking of the Bullfrog Brewery on Sunday was tracked down using the victim's headphones, police say.

That man, Tiler Martin Wood, was taken into custody this week by Williamsport Bureau of Police officers, who recognized Wood from previous encounters, according to a complaint. AirPods helped investigators locate the stolen vehicle, which led to surveillance video that was used to identify Wood.

According to police, Wood approached the vehicle just before 3 p.m. and forced the accuser out of a black 2009 Toyota Camry. Wood drove out of the Bullfrog Brewery parking lot westbound on W. Fourth Street. During the carjacking, Wood allegedly pretended to have a gun under his clothing.

An app was used to track the victim’s iPhone to the 300 block of Elmira Street, Officer William Badger said. It was damaged. The estimated cost of the phone is $1,000, Badger added.

Tracking the victim’s AirPods, state police found the Camry still running in the 300 block of Saint David’s Road in Loyalsock Township, according to Badger’s report.

Investigators obtained surveillance video from several local businesses in the area of the carjacking. According to the affidavit, Wood is seen ordering the victim from the vehicle before getting in and driving away. Wood is allegedly holding his hand underneath his clothing, imitating a firearm through the incident.

Wood, who police say is homeless, is being charged with robbery of a motor vehicle, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, simple assault, and criminal mischief. He is being held at the Lycoming County Prison on $150,000 monetary bail. A preliminary hearing with Judge Aaron Biichle is scheduled for next month.
