Local players in all-star game
Five local high school senior basketball players have been chosen to play in the 37th annual All Star Labor Classic, the showcase of regional talents presented by the Philadelphia Building & Construction Trades Council. This year’s matchups between the city’s and suburbs’ best boys and girls players will take place Sunday, April 14, at Holy Family University.
Education career fair Saturday at Franklin Towne
Franklin Towne Charter High School, 5301 Tacony St., will host an education career fair in its gym on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The following K-12 employers will be participating: Franklin Towne, Memphis Street Academy, First Philadelphia Charter, Lindley Academy Charter, Tacony Academy Charter, Community Academy Charter, New Foundations, Freire Charter, Mariana Bracetti and Belmont Charter Network.

Our new governor has nominated Darrell Clarke to serve on the board of the LCB. His compensation will be $89,000 a year for 2 meetings a month. This will help supplement his city pension, which I believe is very generous, earned from his time on City Council. PA has almost 13 million residents. There had to be another more qualified person in our state who has not been on a government payroll forever. Next will be the feds.
