    Sixth-annual Boots and Brews benefitting The Point/ARC set for Oct. 19 at Newport Car Barn

    The Derek Alan Band and Ben Maile Music highlight the sixth-annual Boots and Brews, presented by Cincinnati’s country radio WUBE B-105, 105.1FM, and benefitting the Point/ARC.

    The event is set for Saturday, October 19 at the Newport Car Barn, located at 1102 Brighton Street. Doors open at 6 p.m.

    The Derek Alan Band is a Nashville-based honky-tonk group fraturing a young artist with a powerful stage presence, and southern rock style. Alan’s musical influences include Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Boy’s II Men, and The Rolling Stones.

    His music, according to the band website, has an edge of a southern rock style mixed with a toe-tapping rhythm and powerful lyrics. Alan’s goal, he says, is to write songs that are full of life’s truth’s and have soul.

    “I also want to entertain and blow-away my audience,” he said.

    Ben Maile is a Northern Kentucky native who spreads music – and good vibes – across the Tri-state area.

    “With my trusty acoustic guitar in hand and a passion for singing you will often find me entertaining at local bars and country clubs,” Maile said. “I’m all about having a great time.”

    Boots and Brews is a country and western-themed event and serves as a fund-raising event for The Point/Arc.

    “The program is quite simple,” said Jill Disken, coordinator for Boots and Brews. “Non-stop music and dancing, and food and beverage.”

    Food will be provided by Gold Star Chili, Kroger Meats, Zels Pretzels, Point Perk Coffee, along with an assortment of desserts.

    Early bird tickets are $40 and $50 at the door and include free valet parking for all guests. Tickets can be purchased at thepointarc.org . Call 859-491-9191 Ext. 110 for more information.

    The Point/Arc was founded by a group of parents fighting for the educational rights of their children, who were diagnosed with a intellectual and developmental (I/DD) disabilities. Their mission is to help people with disabilities achieve their highest potential educationally, socially, residentially, and vocationally.
