Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) Board President, Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore, announced the award of $50.7 million for 18 transportation projects in the region.

“The OKI Board has unanimously agreed to make a more than $50 million-dollar investment in infrastructure within our three-state region,” Moore said. “These transportation projects will improve mobility and safety for the region’s two million residents, including drivers, transit riders, cyclists and pedestrians.”

Moore added, “The projects approved today are what the neighborhoods and cities have told us are critical to their futures. We must not forget that improvements to our transportation infrastructure have a direct impact on the OKI region, and our ability to compete in the global economy.”

Since 2020, OKI has awarded nearly $265 million for infrastructure projects as part of its annual federal prioritization program.

    • Hybrid Buses: The city will get 10 new Metro hybrid buses.

    • Plum Street: Improvements will be made to Cincinnati’s Plum Street to make it safer for pedestrians.

    • Bach Buxton Corridor: Clermont County will see improvements in the Bach Buxton Corridor.

    • Multi-Use Path: Great Parks of Hamilton County will build a 2.1-mile path from the Montgomery Inn Boathouse to Gladstone Avenue as part of the Ohio River Trail Oasis Corridor project.

    Kentucky Initiatives:

    • Crestview Hills: Resurfacing and drainage improvements will be made at Thomas More Parkway.

    • Highland Heights: A new multi-use path and sidewalk will be built along US 27.

    • TANK+ Program: 18 new vehicles to support the TANK+ micro-transit program.

    • Conrad Lane: A multi-use path will be constructed along Conrad Lane from Bullittsville Road to KY 237 in Boone County.

OKI’s CEO Mark Policinski said, “This year’s improvements range from the basic to the advanced, but they all are aimed at making every aspect of life in the region better. The goal is to ensure that all trips by car, bus, bike or walking are easier to do and add to the quality of life for everyone in the region. These community projects approved by OKI are wise investments in our safety, our environment and our economy.”

OKI awarded the funds through the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) program; Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement funds; and Transportation Alternatives (TA) federal programs.

Since 2020, OKI has awarded nearly $264 million for infrastructure projects as part of its annual federal prioritization program.

OKI is a council of local governments, business organizations and community groups committed to developing collaborative strategies, plans and programs to improve the quality of life and economic development potential of the Tristate.
