The trophy Lori Oldendick of Boone County received as medalist in the 1984 girls state golf tournament has been collecting dust for 40 years. She was the last Northern Kentucky golfer to win that state title, but Cooper senior Reagan Ramage could change that Saturday.

Ramage shot 3-over 75 in the opening round of the state tournament on Friday at Bowling Green Country Club. The only names ahead of her on the leaderboard were Athena Singh of Rowan County at 2-under 70 and Haley Federspiel of Madison Central at 1-over 73.

That’s where Ramage stands going into the final 18 holes of her high school career. If she doesn’t win the medalist trophy, she would like to finish higher than the last two years when she placed fourth as a junior and fifth as a sophomore to earn first-team all-state honors twice.

In Friday’s round, Ramage made the turn at even par, but she started the back nine with four bogeys and a double-bogey that put her 6 over par.

She salvaged the round by getting three birdies and a par on the final four holes for a 75 score that put her in a four-way tie for third place on the leaderboard.

Dixie Heights sophomore Tatjana Andracenko shot a 7-over 79 that put her in 13th place. She’s playing in her first state tournament after placing second in a qualifier last week. The other local golfers who posted scores in Friday’s first round were Notre Dame senior Didi Jiradamkerng (82), Ryle junior Anika Okuda (84) and Brossart senior Emma Laker (94).

The top three teams going into the final round are Madison Central 311, Louisville Sacred Heart 316 and Lexington Christian 325.
