    Staff report

The Henry Konstantinow Student Theatre at Northern Kentucky University is a fully student-funded, produced, and directed theatre with the goal to make theatre accessible for students across campus regardless of their major and socioeconomic status.

Its annual shadow cast fundraiser of The Rocky Horror Picture Show is being held at The Woodward Theatre in OTR on October 30. It’s a one-night event with two shows, at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. This is the first time the fundraiser is being held off campus due to ongoing construction in the first floor of the NKU Fine Arts Center.

A shadow cast is an ensemble of artists who act out the movie while it is playing. (There’s plenty of audience interaction.)

With the expansion into Cincinnati, the students are able to open our doors to the community.

All funds raised by this event go directly back into The Henry to continue to produce shows every year, provide grants to students, and keep admission free to our shows.

As always the students are excited about the show and are looking forward to showcasing their talents.

“The Henry has really become a place where I can be seen and heard,” said Alexa Morelle, a director of this year’s show. “I have been able to showcase and grow in my craft in ways I never thought I would. It truly is a place to shine and show off what you can do on or off stage.”

The students laud the experience as valuable and special.

“The Henry has become something that I hold very near and dear to my heart these past few years at school,” said Belle Scholles, who is Rocky in this year’s production. “I love the Henry because it gives a place for students to grow working on their art form in all roles of the performing arts.”

Student Payne Ackerman agrees. “The Henry is a very important thing to me because it’s such a welcoming environment and a great way to get introduced into theatre.”

The show at the Woodward Theater in Cincinnati is at 7 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. Tickets may be purchased here. They are $14 in advance and $18 the day of the show. The historic Woodward Theater is at 1404 Main Street in Cincinnati.

The Henry Konstantinow Theater is a non-profit theatre organization at NKU, created to promote an open artist space for students to explore artistically within the realm of theater and expand their craft. Every show is entirely student-led, student directed, and student-produced.
