Suspect wanted in 2023 Burlington shootout appears in court
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A Detroit man wanted in connection with a Burlington shootout in 2023 appeared in court Friday. John Austin, 30, pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault charges connected to the shootout on Riverside Avenue in May 2023. The Burlington Police say one of the bullets in the early morning shootout punctured a gas line prompting the evacuation of nearby residents. One of the bullets also went into a home. None was injured.

PLAINFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) - State officials say flood recovery sites that are open in hard-hit towns are offering resources that can help people cope. The centers include tables for the summer meals program, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and several state offices.
