The schedule for the bands and performance days and times for this summer’s Vintage Band Festival are set.
This year, the VBF line up is an extended play version, meaning the music will begin Friday night and the last all day Saturday. On Friday, July 26, the festival kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and last through 10 p.m. Music continues Saturday, July 27 with a 9 a.m. start and continues non-stop until 10 p.m.
All performances will be along the banks of the Cannon River in Downtown Northfield.
According to Dan Bergeson, longtime VBF board member and publicist, five new bands will be introduced to Northfield audiences: The Freier Department, Beasley’s Big Band, the Medalist Concert Band, the Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band, and K-Libre24. The other bands have performed at VBF before, but for some it’s been more than five years.
The complete schedule for the weekend includes:
Friday, July 26: 5:30 p.m. — K-Libre 24; 7 p.m. — Mariachi Mi Tierra; 8:30 p.m. — McNasty Brass Band
Saturday, July 27: 9 a.m. — New Prague Area Community Band; 10 a.m. — Dirty Shorts Brass Band; 11 a.m. — Sheldon Theatre Brass Band; 12 p.m. — Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band; 1 p.m. — Minnesota State Band; 2 p.m. — Freier Department; 3 p.m. — Bavarian Musikmeisters; 4 p.m. — Twin Cities Trumpet Ensemble; 5:15 p.m. — Medalist Concert Band; 6:45 p.m. — Brass Messengers; 8:30 p.m. — Beasley’s Big Band
Riverwalk Market Fair will be sharing Bridge Square with Vintage Band Festival on Saturday. There will be more than 30 vendors in the park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. showcasing fresh produce, baked goods, visual artists, textiles, jewelry, and more.
