A Northfield man is facing charges after he allegedly held a child up against a wall by the child’s throat.

John Philip Krautkremer, 40, is charged in Rice County District Court with felony and misdemeanor counts of domestic assault and gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child.

A boy told police Saturday night that Krautkremer was angry at him and put his hand around his neck, pushed him against a wall and picked him up by the neck. The boy said he had a hard time breathing while Krautkremer held him up and continued to yell at him, according to a court complaint.

An adult in the resident reported witnessing the assault in a mirror.

When asked about any prior incidents, the boy reported Krautkremer calls him names and grabs his arms hard enough to cause pain.

Krautkremer reportedly acknowledged grabbing the boy’s arm, pushing him against a wall and putting his hand under the boy’s jaw to force him to look at him. He denied choking the boy.

Krautkremer was arrested and released Monday with no bail if her agreed to conditions including not to have any contact with the boy.
