The Northfield High School wrestling team completed its regular season schedule in top order, as the Raiders earned a pair of Big 9 conference victories over Rochester John Marshall and Rochester Century Thursday, Feb. 8. Northfield man charged with fleeing from Faribault police
A Northfield man is now charged with fleeing from Faribault police last month. Someone reported that Douglas Nolan Roper, 39, was trespassing at a Faribault residence on Jan. 16, according to a court complaint. Roper reportedly left before police arrived. A police officer spotted the suspect vehicle driving without headlights on Willow Street and tried to pull it over. But the driver continued for several blocks “at a high rate of speed” and the officer lost sight of it, the complaint states. Roper was stopped driving the same vehicle later in the month. He then claimed his vehicle had been stolen on Jan. 16. A felony charge of fleeing police was issued Monday in Rice County District Court, along with a summons to make a first court appearance on May 16.

Dundas man charged with sexual abuse of child
A Dundas man is accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl. A girl recently told a Dundas police officer and a child protection worker that Ian Robert Deyarmond, 29, sexually assaulted her multiple times, according to a court complaint. The girl said Deyarmond asks her to keep it a secret and takes her shopping as a reward. Deyarmond was arrested on Wednesday and he was charged with felony criminal sexual conduct Friday in Rice County District Court. Bail was set at at least $50,000 with conditions including he not have any contact with children.
