Northfield man killed in single-vehicle crash
A Northfield man was killed when he crashed on Highway 19 Saturday night. Tristan Jay Jaeckels, 23, was in a car westbound on the highway near Northfield when he went off the road a little after 11 p.m., according to the State Patrol. He died at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt. No further details have been released.
Cemetery Stories connects students with Northfield history through storytelling and acting
Five different Northfielders who are buried in Northfield Cemetery across the street from Northfield High School will come back to life briefly for a new audience of local history buffs, thanks to the creative students involved in the SCOPE Cemetery Stories. Summer arrives in Northfield with Riverwalk Market Fair opening
Blessed with perfect late May moderate temperatures and blue skies, free of Canadian wildfire smoke, shoppers came out in droves to the opening day of the Riverwalk Market Fair. The art and farmers’ market held along the Cannon River in the heart of Northfield, happens every Saturday from May 20 through October 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. At the market, visitors will find local artists with incredible wares including pottery, jewelry, carved wood, and granite charcuterie boards. Food offerings include fresh produce such as organically grown vegetables, seasonal jams, freshly baked breads, yarn spun from their own sheep’s wool, and goat milk soap. Live music featuring local musicians serenades shoppers. Local organizers said Riverwalk Market Fair truly offers “the art of a summer Saturday.”

Northfield girls golf came out victorious Thursday in a triangular match against Winona and Faribault at the Northfield Country Club behind multiple season-best efforts. Junior Emerson Garlie led the way with a 76 while the sister duo of Annika and Karina Johnson managed to post matching 87s on the afternoon. Ueshiro Northfield Shorin-Ryu Karate and the Carleton Karate Club celebrated the promotion of four new Black Belts, as well as the 15th anniversary of its dojo, in Northfield over the weekend of May 5.
