Tuesday night's Northfield City Council meeting included a hodgepodge of actions. First, councilors approved the abstract of votes cast in the Nov. 8 general election. The Northfield girls hockey JV team earned an 8-1 win over the visiting Chisago Wildcats Tuesday at Northfield Ice Arena. LeaAnn Ayotte sat in the front row of the Bridgewater Elementary School gymnasium Friday morning, hoping to see her fourth-grade granddaughter. ELECTION RESULTS: Holmes, Sokup, Peterson White elected to Northfield City Council
In Tuesday’s election, Northfield voters decided to send three candidates to serve on City Council, two new members and one returning member. Davin Sokup, a member of the planning commission, will occupy the who open At-Large seat. He won with 62% of the vote over challenger Thelma Estrada. The seat opened up when councilor Clarice Grabau decided to run for Senate District 58. Kathleen Holmes, who ran unopposed in Ward 1, will take the seat held by longtime councilor Suzi Nakasian, who resigned earlier this year. Sean Allen, who served as in interim councilor, will step down at the end of this year. In Ward 4, business owner and incumbent Jessica Peterson White defeated challenger Aaron Schindler, with a decisive margin of over 78%.
