With the opening of the sleekly designed residence halls and townhouses on Ole Avenue, 440 St. Olaf College students have a brand new place to reside this academic year. Grant to fund county addiction treatment diversion program
Rice County is receiving a nearly $1 million federal grant to develop jail diversion and other programs to help people with substance-abuse disorders. City Council approves edible cannabinoid product fees
On Oct. 4, the Northfield City Council approved a resolution setting fees related to the sale of edible cannabinoid products effective Nov. 1. Licenses must be renewed annually and are good from Aug. 1 through July 31 of the following year. The fee for the license is $1,500. The first license would be prorated for the remaining nine months, Nov. 1 through July 31, 2023, to $1,125. New applicants will pay $500 for a background check. Rice County approves settlement in second excessive force lawsuit
Rice County has reached a settlement with the second of the two former Rice County Jail inmates who accused a jailer of assault in 2019. Elizabeth Benjamin and her attorneys will receive $83,000 to dismiss the case and absolve the county of any more liability.
