Listeria concerns lead to expanded recall of produce sold in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut
A voluntary recall of cucumbers and bagged salads sold in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut due to possible listeria contamination has been expanded to include additional produce.Earlier this month, Wiers Farm recalled whole cucumbers and bagged salads with pack dates of June 5 and June 6.While the products involved are past their shelf life, the recall has been expanded to others in response to an investigation.Products involved in the expanded recall were packed between July 5-12 and sold under the brand names Wiers Farm and Freshire Farms.According to the FDA, the move is being made out of an abundance...
Investigation Leads To Guns, Cash, Drugs, Middletown Duo Charged, Police Say
The incident occurred in Orange County on Thursday, July 25, at three locations in the city of Middletown. According to Lt. Jeffry Thoelen of the Middletown Police, the Department's Narcotics Unit executed three no-knock search warrants at two residences and a storage unit, concluding an extensive two-year investigation into the sale and trafficking of fentanyl and cocaine in and around the Middletown area.

Madison Awarded 2024 Community Connectivity Grant
The Town of Madison is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an $800,000 grant from the Community Connectivity Grant Program (CCGP) administered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. This competitive grant program provides funding to municipalities to enhance facilities for bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit users in urban, suburban, and rural community centers. The grant will be used for improvements to Scotland Avenue. This includes providing pedestrian safety and accessibility for the surrounding neighborhoods to the downtown center, public transportation facilities, and a town athletic facility. The project includes the addition of sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalks, guide rails, and traffic signage, as well as drainage enhancements and paving.

Launched in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023 by Chad Wodskow and James Zinkand, Misguided Spirits is an employee-owned and -operated company specializing in craft spirits made by bartenders in honor of “misunderstood figures from the past.” The brand is distributed in Connecticut through Winebow.

Hartford Athletic picked up a point at home in their scoreless draw against Phoenix Rising FC tonight. Though ending scoreless, tonight’s matchup was not short of scoring opportunities. Hartford wasted no time setting the tone for a strong offensive presence, crashing Phoenix’s attacking third right out of the gate. The Green and Blue saw their first chance at an early lead with less than 10 minutes on the clock after they were awarded a free kick right outside Phoenix’s box.
