Racing remains at forefront for Windham’s Derek Kneeland
For Windham auto racer Derek Kneeland, the only way to define your limits is by going beyond them. Kneeland, 38, continues to be a busy man in auto racing this year, trying to find time to race his own car at local tracks, driving part-time for Mike Bryant Racing in super late model select events, and serving as a spotter for Kyle Busch, Austin Hill xfinity, Nick Sanchez trucks in NASCAR events.
Toddler Suffers Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound
On Tuesday, July 2, the Sanford Police Department received a call for the sound of a gunshot at 13 Shaw Rd. SPD officers and Sanford EMS responded and found a three-year-old boy with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left hand. The child was accompanied by his father. The boy was transported to Maine Medical Center where he is being treated for his injury. The pistol was recovered inside the residence. SPD’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident. This case is still in the early stages of the investigation and the public is not at any risk.
Mainers’ Host Families Enjoy Rewarding Experiences

Baseball has long been called “America’s Pastime.” If this is true, then “Sanford’s Pastime” is watching the Sanford Mainers play at Goodall Park. Since 2002, college baseball players from all over the country have come to Sanford to play for the Mainers. That begs the question, “Where do they stay?” While some players can drive home or stay with relatives, the rest are housed by Sanford-Springvale residents.
