Breeze Airways is expanding to South Bend, the second airport it will serve in Indiana.

The airline will offer two nonstop routes: Orlando starting on Nov. 7 and Fort Myers starting on Feb. 5.

“With Breeze’s decision to expand service out of South Bend, we’re able to offer increased regional connectivity into and out of our great state,” said Gov. Eric Holcomb in a press release . “Indiana is truly a crossroads and cross airways to destinations near and far.”

Community, airport and Breeze Airway's officials announced the new service during a press conference Aug. 7.

The airline's founder and CEO David Neeleman sees growth potential at the South Bend International Airport, which is the state's second busiest airport.

“These two great warm weather destinations are just the beginning,” Neelema said. “We see more opportunities from South Bend, and we look forward to more growth in the future.”

That's good news to Mike Daigle, South Bend International Airport's CEO and executive director.

“We are thrilled to welcome Breeze to SBN and offer our community more options to easily get to fun in the Sunshine State,” Daigle said. “As we continue to push the envelope to be the premier choice for travel, the opportunities Breeze brings as a new airline partner is exciting.”

Breeze Airways began service from 16 cities in May 2021 and has quickly become a leisure leader. It has been ranked Travel + Leisure’s “Best Domestic Airlines” for three years in a row. It's motto is “seriously nice.” It now offers 200 nonstop routes between 64 cities and 30 states. Evansville is the other Indiana town with flights from Breeze.

It offers high-speed WiFi on its fleet of new Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The airline also doesn't charge change or cancellation fees up to 60 minutes before departure time.

South Bend International Airport offers flights to 13 cities through four airline carriers. More than 1 million travelers use the airport's multi-modal terminal each year.
