Region companies were among 48 businesses that were honored with the Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Awards in 2024.

Gov. Eric Holcomb honored the businesses Aug. 15 for their longevity and commitment to their communities and employees.

“The lifeblood of our growing economy is our Hoosier entrepreneurs and business owners who had the courage to turn a vision into reality, and I'm honored to recognize each and every one of these leaders today for their exemplary commitment to our state and their communities,” Holcomb said in a press release .

American Community Bank was one of the honorees. It has branches in Schererville, Crown Point, Dyer, Hammond and Munster.

“Our bank could have easily been sold off and merged with a larger competitor, but our bank has maintained its persistent dedication as a true community bank focused on meeting the financial needs of our communities,” said Mike Mellon, American Community Bank president in a press release. “This award is a testament to our commitment to our customers and our steadfast belief in the importance and value of community banking.”
