End of Summer Traffic Enforcement
(Des Moines) Last year, during the final weeks of summer, there were 54 traffic fatalities in Iowa, with 44% involving impairment. To prevent future tragedies, the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) is collaborating with law enforcement across the state to reduce impaired driving. From August 16 to September 2, agencies will participate in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over high-visibility enforcement project. During this time, officers will work together to remove impaired drivers and motorcycle riders from the road.
Dubuque Car Crash Thursday Injures One
A two vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon in Dubuque injured one person. Dubuque Police say it happened around 12:30 at the intersection of the Northwest Arterial and Kennedy Road. Police say one vehicle driven by 16-year old Madison Davis of Asbury was stopped at the red light when another vehicle driven by 22-year old Dubooqueshay P.D. Collins of Dubuque didn’t stop in time and rear-ended the other vehicle. A passenger in Collins vehicle, 10-year old Beauty Glinn suffered facial cuts and had to be taken to Finley Hospital for treatment.
