20 Years to Life: Butch Hoopingarner Sentenced for Decades-Old Cold Case Murders in Ohio and Colorado
Carl ‘Butch’ Hoopingarner Sentenced: Cold Case Link Reveals Decades-Old Crimes. Hoopingarner Sentenced for 1990 Death, Implicated in Colorado Killing. In a shocking turn of events, Carl “Butch” Hoopingarner was given a term ranging from 20 years to life in prison for a crime that occurred more than thirty years ago, according to True Crime News. The case centers on James Bradley’s sad 1990 death which was first determined to be an accident caused by an automobile fire. But according to fresh information discovered by Ohio’s Guernsey County authorities Bradley’s tragic death was caused by a purposefully started fire. The fact that Bradley’s case was reopened in 2021 was a direct result of Butch Hoopingarner’s recent suspicion after another sad incident in Limon, Colorado. Butch Hoopingarner was implicated in the death of his roommate 64-year-old Everett Kerr after a welfare check uncovered Kerr’s lifeless body there. An altercation between the two men reportedly escalated resulting in Kerr’s tragic demise. Authorities tracked Butch Hoopingarner to Buffalo, Ohio where they discovered the vehicle of his deceased roommate Everett Kerr concealed on a property. The discovery led to a tense standoff that ended with Butch Hoopingarner surrendering to law enforcement.
'We must comply': Maumee mayor tells crowd options are limited to deal with EPA issues
Maumee Mayor Jim MacDonald is caught between the state and his constituents. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued several findings and mandates after the city dumped millions of gallons of illegal raw sewage into the Maumee River for 25 years, he said. One of the solutions is a recently enacted sewer inspection ordinance that has been hugely expensive for some Maumee residents selling their homes. “To be clear, the choices for us are limited. I have to be brutally honest,” Mayor MacDonald said at a Tuesday informational meeting. “We must comply with what's being asked of us, and try to fix what we can.” The mayor held the community meeting to discuss the ordinance, which requires a sanitary sewer inspection on private properties listed for sale. About 150 people filled the council chamber, with the overflow crowd watching the live stream at the adjacent police station.
