Summit Metro Parks and Norton Police are investigating a Sunday attack on a woman who was walking on a trail at Silver Creek Metro Park around 3:30 p.m.

The woman was walking on Chippewa Trail when she was approached by two men who threw an unknown substance on her legs, causing severe burns, Lindsey Smith, chief of marketing for the Summit Metro Parks, said. The woman was transported to a local hospital. No further information on her condition was immediately available.

"We are keeping the victim in our thoughts as she heals from this traumatic incident. This type of attack is incredibly uncommon within Summit Metro Parks," Smith said in an email.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact Summit Metro Parks Ranger Lieutenant Josh Hamblen at 330-865-8052 or JHamblen@summitmetroparks.org.
