Congressman Jim Himes toured the Norwalk Police Marine Unit's new location this week, praising the facility's enhanced visibility and access during emergencies. The new location, officers say, improves visibility for maritime users and provides better access during flooding and natural disasters. This could be particularly helpful ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, when more people are expected to be out on the water. "People forget that on the water, on a beautiful day like this, you can be on the Long Island Sound and literally in a matter of one hour the weather can change, the wind can change…and now instead of being out on a beautiful sunny day, your life is at risk," Himes said. Himes also toured the unit's patrol area, including the Walk Bridge project and the Copps Island Oysters shellfish farm. "
