Village of Norwalk residents asked to not flush toilets, put anything down drains

    [UPDATE]

In an update to News 8 Now Monday morning, the Village of Norwalk says this emergency is no longer in effect, though they said that may change depending on future rainfall accumulations.

    [PREVIOUS]

VILLAGE OF NORWALK, Wis. (WKBT) -- Residents in the Village of Norwalk are being asked to not flush toilets or put anything down their drains.

Village employees shared the information in a Facebook post , labeling it as an emergency.

According to the post, rain combined with water from creeks is placing extra work on the sewer plant. Residents are being asked to not put anything down their drains on Sunday to avoid additional water at the plant.

Norwalk uses a gravity flow system, which means residents closer to the plant would be affected if the sewer plant were to overflow or become infiltrated.

The notice is in effect for Sunday July 14.
