Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame football landed some extra depth in the secondary and in their 2025 recruiting class on Friday

JaDon Blair, a 2025 four-star safety announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish. He selected Notre Dame over the likes of Penn State, Michigan, Florida State and South Carolina, among others. On3's Hayes Fawcett was the first to report news of Blair's commitment.

“From the beginning of the recruiting process when they offered me, I’ve heard from them consistently,” Blair told On3's Notre Dame affiliate Blue & Gold on why he chose the Irish. “It’s been every day, whether it’s from Coach (Marcus) Freeman, Coach (Mike) Mickens, Coach (Al) Golden or Chad Bowden.

“They’ve showed how much of a priority I am to them, even when they had other safety commits, and even though they got commitments from (defensive backs) Mark Zackery and Dallas Golden, they still wanted me. They view me as a missing piece to their program.”

Blair made his announcement live on On3, where he added some drama to the moment by pump-faking a potential commitment to the Wolverines or Nittany Lions.

With Blair's commitment, Notre Dame now has 22 players in its 2025 recruiting class, which ranks No. 3 in the nation by 247Sports' Composite rankings. The commitment of Blair also adds continuous depth at the secondary in the 2025 class, one that already features Ivan Taylor, Mark Zackery IV, Dallas Golden, Anthony Sacca, Cree Thomas and Ethan Long.
