Three BCPS students named All-State Dancers

TOWSON, MD—For their hard work, dedication, and artistry, three Baltimore County Public Schools students have been named All-State Dancers by the Maryland Public High School Dance Committee.

The honorees consist of seniors Charlotte Bauermann from Hereford High School and Sofia Alvarez and Aaron Gensler from the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology. This is the second year that Bauermann has been named an All-State Dancer.

Additionally, Jada Rodgers of Carver Center received an Honorable Mention. Teachers for the honorees are Erin Norton at Hereford High School and Maria Royals and Stephanie Powell at Carver Center.

“I could not be prouder to have Charlotte represent Hereford High School as a Maryland All-State Dancer, for the second year,” said Erin Norton, teacher at Hereford High School. “She continually sets the standard in our program for hard work, commitment, artistry, vision, and passion. She absolutely loves to dance, and it loves her right back.”

Students are nominated by their school dance teachers and selected by a statewide audition held at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. The 108 students that were selected from across the state participated in an audition on September 6th.

The All-State Dancers will be recognized and honored at the 35th Annual Maryland Public High School Dance Showcase at Goucher College on January 10, 2025. They will also have the opportunity to perform in an All-State Ensemble performance at the same venue.
