The Burleson County Minor Girls captured the State Championship with a 4-1 victory over Rockport-Fulton last (Tuesday) night. Burleson County jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning. Rockport-Fulton cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it a 2-1 game.
Texas Women’s Foundation announces new board, including Planoite Holly Tucker
The Texas Women’s Foundation (TXWF) announced their new board of directors, including board member and Planoite Holly Tucker. Beginning July 1, 2024, Carrie Freeman Parsons, chair of the board of Freeman Company, will serve as chair of the foundation’s board of directors for a second year, according to a statement released by TXWF. Cris Zertuche Wong, an executive at Goldman Sachs, has been named chair-elect of the Board. She will take over as chair on July 1, 2025, replacing Parsons. Wong will lead the board through June 30, 2027, for a two-year period.
